| Well what happens when you lose everything but the one constant in your life? You rely on that one thing to get you through! That one thing for me has always been music and it has been with me at the top of the corporate ladder to the bottom of the deepest hole. I guess if any of us is truly qualified to say that they not only play the Delta Blues but have lived the Delta Blues it would be me. After years of struggling with addiction and in and out of recovery (and prison) I have now found a true home and a balance playing next to my big brother, Mike Cunningham, in Lightning Strikes. Blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughn put it best when he said " I've been walk'n the Tightrope". He was and still is a true inspiration to me musically and spiritually. Playing clean and sober is the only way!!! It's been 25 years since I saddled up alongside my Bro and took to the stage to make music together. We have come along way from butchering Rush songs and making Ted Nugent sound worse than he already did. Today the maturity, the pain, the loss, and the happiness can not only be heard but felt by two men who have never known anything to be more truthful than that Cunningham's are meant to play music. I could never have that taken away from me and could never give it up if I wanted to. Thank you God for delivering me from living the Delta blues to playing the Delta blues. Prayerfully Yours, |
